ESO and VTRN=Booty Shaking for All

Bands that rely on acronyms make us want to dance.

Thanks VTRN and ESO.

This past Saturday marked the first show of Empty Space Orchestra’s December residency at Silver Moon. As expected, the party kicked off with an ass-shaking mess of fun. Opener VTRN started the party off right, with a set that felt like a house party; a house party where your friends drunkenly decided to start a rap group and were REALLY REALLY good.

VTRN shares members with Oregon based band Kaddisfly (remember them?) but offers an entirely different, and much more groovy experience (see video above). Two drummers offer a base for the funky tunes that feature Beastie Boys-style rap-yelling paird with Kelsey Kuther’s gorgeous, jazzy voice, which provided the hooks for the songs. A PT walking boot didn’t stop the band from jumping, dancing, partying and mingling with the audience as they played their entire catalog of jams.

Shenanigans ensued as ESO took the stage and rocked out in all their ambient glory. Over all, an excellent way to start the December residency.

Look for ESO and opener Water & Bodies on Saturday, followed by a show with White Orange next weekend—one not to be missed. The final show will be a nuts New Year’s blow out with Your Birthday and Oh Sugoi! Dance party December!
