Living History: A Conversation with 1961 freedom riders, tonight

Listen as Silver and Liggins relate how they supported nonviolent change during the civil-rights movement.

If you missed COCC's screening of Freedom Riders, don't miss tonight's talk by two people who were on the scene in 1961, risking their safety in the name of nonviolence and equal rights (by the way, you can still catch Freedom Riders on Thursday, Jan. 26 at COCC Madras Campus, room 116, from 4:30-6:30pm p.m.).

Tonight's talk: Silver and Liggins will recount how they and 400 others came together to support nonviolent change by traveling into the Deep South, defying Jim Crow laws and putting their welfare—even their lives—on the line in the spring and summer of 1961. They will explain how their experience as Freedom Riders shaped their lives and its relevance for today. Book sales and signings will follow the presentation.

Tuesday, Jan. 24 (that's tonight)

6pm in Wille Hall, Campus Center, COCC Bend Campus
