Hey, remember Hey Marseilles?

Hey MarseillesSeattle based mini-orchestra Hey Marseilles rocked a packed Father Luke’s room just a few months ago at our very own McMenamin’s, and now, they’re blowing up. After playing Sasquatch in May, they are currently working on the release of their second full-length album, and have sets booked at some of the North West’s biggest music festivals. The guys will be playing the Doe Bay Music Festival on Bainbridge Island with other Bend veterans Blitzen Trapper, Poor Moon and Lomolo, followed by a set at Bumbershoot Music Festival in Seattle alongside headliners like Jane’s Addiction, Tony Bennett, Skrillex and Gotye.

Hey Marseilles just recorded a Look Session of their new track “Hold Your Head”, a genuinely poignant song about reaching the end of the road.  Look Sessions are a challenge indie artists to present their best work unplugged with one camera, one song, and only one take. No second chances here, Hey Marseilles do a damn good job.

If you’re looking for a great way to waste several days of your life on the interweb, here is the link to the Look Sessions webpage where you can find more videos of some young, up and coming indie acts.

In the same vein as Look Sessions, is La Blogotheque, or Take Away Shows, the brainchild of the phenomenally talented, nomadic French cinematographer Vincent Moon. Starting in 2006, Moon has been traveling the world, filming impromptu performances of artists in unlikely places. The hundreds of videos include Beirut playing on the streets of Paris, Sufjan Stevens playing on the roof, Grizzly Bear playing in a bathtub and The Arcade Fire doing a particularly awesome version of “Wake Up”  in an elevator.

So there you are indie-nerds, here’s hours of unique entertainment from hundreds of wonderful bands! Enjoy!
