Checking in With New Music Michael

If you remember a few months back, I wrote about a couple of music blogs you should be reading. One of them was Edmonton's New Music Michael.

I actually got to hang out with editor/writer Michael Senchuk in Boise this summer before, during and after a Wilco concert. And though I had traded new band tweets with this guy for a couple of years, sitting down and talking with him revealed that he knows a crap ton more about music than I had any idea about.

Well, this guy just released his top ten songs of 2012 and it's pretty cool.

I'm very impressed with his inclusion of Django Django's song "Default." That album has been on my radar almost all year and is sure to make my year end list when it comes in out in the Source next week. There are some obvious gems, like songs by The Lumineers and Japandroids, but the great thing about New Music Michael is you always learn something too. Case in point, his number one song, "When The Lillies Die" by IO Echo. I admit it— I didn't know about this song and it's awesome! Kudos Michael!
