WEEKEND WARRIOR 12/5-12/6 | The Source Weekly - Bend, Oregon

WEEKEND WARRIOR 12/5-12/6

Friday Night 12/5

Marv Ellis, Acoustic Minds at the Downtown Bendistillery Martini Bar

Ellis dishes out super jazzy and world-inspired hip-hop numbers accompanied by his innovative lyrical style. The Portland MC has played shows across the country, as well as in Europe, and this experience is evidenced in his live show, which tonight features Brooks B. on trumpet. Bring your dancing shoes and don't spill your martini. 10pm. Downtown Bendistillery Martini Bar, 850 NW Brooks St.

Saturday 12/6

Bend Holiday Parade

If you're the festive type, head downtown Saturday morning to see all sorts of parade elements, including a float from the Source Weekly. Come wave at us...or at least those of us that got stuck with float duty. Downtown Bend, parade begins at noon.

Rise Up Benefit at the Poethouse

If you weren't aware, the globally active social organization Rise Up has an office in Bend and creates super cool clothing, the proceeds from which benefit people around the world. This show is to raise some cash for the organization and features music from Empty Space Orchestra, Mosley Wotta (with DJ Mud, of course) as well as some youthful groups. 8pm, Poethouse Art, 55 NW Minnesota Ave.

Blackflowersblacksun, The Dirty Words at Silver Moon Brewing Co.

This quirkily named local band is the brainchild of slide blues guitarist Greg Bryce. He's got a drummer with him and before you start comparing the duo to Hillstomp, the Portland blues duo that tore up the Domino Room last weekend, we'll stop you right there. Blackflowersblacksun is a little cleaner sounding and uses less duct tape. The Dirty Words, known for their hard-rocking stage presence as of late, are going acoustic for their opening set - but you can bet they'll still tear it up. 8pm, Silver Moon Brewing Co. 24 NW Greenwood Ave.
