The businesses listed in The Green Spot have met specific criteria, that the Environmental Center believes is necessary to support a healthy future for people and the planet. The Environmental Center qualifies businesses by evaluating their products, services, and operations in the categories of energy use, water conservation, transportation, third party certification, waste reduction, toxics prevention, and community.
While all of the businesses in The Green Spot have passed our qualification process, there are some that are going above and beyond. The businesses listed here have excelled in six of our seven criteria areas, with the exception of Helios Eco-House, which excels in all seven. These businesses have taken important steps toward a sustainable future and serve as great examples for other businesses to follow. They also serve here as a snapshot of the kind of information that you'll find in The Green Spot, where you can find nearly 200 businesses offering a range of services with an eye toward local sustainability.
