FORUM—The affordable housing situation in Bend has been described as a "crisis," and Bend 2030 is taking an interactive, community-based approach to addressing the problem. The group will explore the results of a recent survey, engage in exercise and hear about people's personal housing struggles. Loudon Wainwright III
FOLK—Reading Loudon Wainwright's resume will make you feel like a failure. He's a Grammy award winner, Dylan-esque songwriter, humorist, film score composer (Judd Apatow's Knocked Up), father of musicians Rufus Wainwright and Martha Wainwright, has had songs covered by Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt, and Earl Scruggs, and has parented 26 albums in total. Oregon Amazing Wild Rivers
RIVERS—You can't step into the same river twice, and the same can be said about rivers in general: No one river is like any other. Oregon is criss-crossed by some 120 rivers, which have shaped its history and provide countless boating, fishing and swimming opportunities. Blackflowers Blacksun
ROCK—One of Bend's finest blues bands that disappears every summer and resurfaces every fall for a handful of cold weather shows (one of the members fights fires in Alaska), Blackflowers Blacksun, returns with its brazen Delta-style roots music. ONE MAN BAND—The boot-stomping, drumming, and chugging guitar from bearded wonder Scott McDougall are reminiscent of old-timey, dusty road, folk-country. HIP-HOP—This day may go down in history as the end of pot prohibition in Oregon. What better way to celebrate than with the stars of the 2011 stoner cult classic How High?
