Our Picks 6/26-7/2

thursday 26

Leftover Salmon

JAM—A pillar of the jam band scene and architects of the jam grass genre, Leftover Salmon's 25 years of rootsy Americana, string-based music is the perfect sort of thing to sway to after a day outside. As part of the Subaru of Bend Outside Games, Leftover Salmon helps celebrate being out under the Central Oregon sky. 6-10 pm. Century Center Courtyard, 70 SW Century Dr. $25.

friday 27

Indigo Girls

MUSIC—This iconic folk rock duo has been making music together for more than 25 years, and friends for more than 30. That connection is clearly contagious—fans are dedicated and prone to bursting into song, a capella style, at subway stations. Headlining the Northwest Crossing Hullabaloo, the Indigo Girls bring their friendly folksy sound to Bend to get us all a little closer to fine. 7 pm. Northwest Crossing. Free.

friday 27

Va Va Voom Burlesque

PERFORMANCE—Strip-teasing sisters Ophelia and Kitty Cox founded Va Va Voom just three years ago and have already procured a talented lineup including boylesque performers and a panty wrangler, as well as their own biannual boot camp for prospective purveyors of this frisky art that teaches newbies to torque their tassels and playfully pull off a glove with their teeth. Accompanied by the barely legal boys of Patrimony. 9 pm. Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Dr. $5.

saturday 28

Bite of Bend

FOOD—Bend's celebration of local food transforms downtown into a festival of food and fun for the whole family. Bands including Wilderness, Blackstrap Bluegrass and Soul Vaccination will appease Saturday night appetites. Not to mention the food, beer and live cooking competitions are all part of the scene that will make the mouths of any Bendite, or visiting foodie, water. 11 am-10 pm. Downtown Bend. Free.

saturday 28

Larry and His Flask Benefit

BENEFIT—Earlier this month, hometown band Larry and His Flask had its van and trailer (filled with all of the band's musical equipment and personal belongings) stolen while on a national tour in South Carolina. Help support the band's journey back to full-strength with raffle items, auctions and performances from MoWo, High Desert Hooligans and Harley Bourbon. 8 pm. Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Dr. $10 suggested donation.

saturday 28

Michael Franti

YOGA, MUSIC, HAPPY THINGS—Happiness alchemist Michal Franti is joined by a slew of like-minded artists of all genres (SOJA, Brett Dennen, Trevor Hall) for performances and pre-music yoga practice led by internationally renowned instructor Seane Corns. Just try to leave without a smile on your face and a song in your heart. 6 pm. Les Schwab Amphitheater, 344 SW Shevlin Hixon Dr. $20-$52.

saturday 28

Cruxapalooza

BEER—This is how Bendites talk: "Crux is pouring a special Cruxapalooza Strong Dark Belgian Ale, aged in Cabernet (L'Ecole 41) barrels." Translation: To celebrate the start of its third year, Crux has a special beer and is also hosting a pig roast and a full day of music, including folk-pop Wilderness, Afro-beat Polyrhythmics and hard-edged bluegrass, World's Finest. It is a quintessential Bend party. 11:30 am-10:30 pm, Crux Fermentation Project, 50 SW Division. Free.

saturday 28

Central Oregon Pride

PRIDE—Whether you prefer Tevas and dog parks or sequins and drag shows, there's a little something for everyone at Central Oregon's 10th annual Pride festival, including local favorites WOsley WOtta, Jenni Peskin and Strive Roots Band as well as regional talent like Poison Waters, Jeremiah Clark and the Portland chapter of Dykes on Bikes®. Noon-6 pm. Drake Park. Free.

sunday 29

Randy McAllister

AMERICANA—Here's an exercise: Venn diagram the mournful yearnings of blues, the storytelling of country & western, and rich zydeco soundscapes, and smack dab in the middle you will find Grammy award-winning Randy McAllister. 2:30 pm. Les Schwab Amphitheater. Free.

tuesday 1

Possessed by Paul James

MUSIC—Konrad Wert channels a soul and spirit through his roots music that is more of a religious experience than a musical performance. Deserving of an exorcism, Wert's intention and skill at fiddle, guitar and banjo is invigorating, and has won him praise that rivals idolatry the world over. 9 pm. Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Dr. $7.
