Indigo Girls
MUSIC—This iconic folk rock duo has been making music together for more than 25 years, and friends for more than 30. That connection is clearly contagious—fans are dedicated and prone to bursting into song, a capella style, at subway stations. Va Va Voom Burlesque
PERFORMANCE—Strip-teasing sisters Ophelia and Kitty Cox founded Va Va Voom just three years ago and have already procured a talented lineup including boylesque performers and a panty wrangler, as well as their own biannual boot camp for prospective purveyors of this frisky art that teaches newbies to torque their tassels and playfully pull off a glove with their teeth. Bite of Bend
FOOD—Bend's celebration of local food transforms downtown into a festival of food and fun for the whole family. Bands including Wilderness, Blackstrap Bluegrass and Soul Vaccination will appease Saturday night appetites. Larry and His Flask Benefit
BENEFIT—Earlier this month, hometown band Larry and His Flask had its van and trailer (filled with all of the band's musical equipment and personal belongings) stolen while on a national tour in South Carolina. Help support the band's journey back to full-strength with raffle items, auctions and performances from MoWo, High Desert Hooligans and Harley Bourbon. 8 pm. BEER—This is how Bendites talk: "Crux is pouring a special Cruxapalooza Strong Dark Belgian Ale, aged in Cabernet (L'Ecole 41) barrels." Translation: To celebrate the start of its third year, Crux has a special beer and is also hosting a pig roast and a full day of music, including folk-pop Wilderness, Afro-beat Polyrhythmics and hard-edged bluegrass, World's Finest.
