Minus the Bear, Empty Space Orchestra Seattle indie-rock band Minus the Bear is currently offering a free six-song download on their website from the Hold Me Down EP. A synth feel with plenty of keys, some prog-rock and futurama electronica mark the sound from their 2011 album, Omni (My Time is a dope track - rocking and sensual). Bend's own Empty Space Orchestra opens the show. 9pm, Wonder Ballroom.

Minus the Bear, Empty Space Orchestra Notable because, A) they're awesome and B) front man Lucas Alberg just moved to Bend and hopes to soon be playing local gigs with his roots-rock quartet. Check out their songs "California" (featuring some excellent banjo) and "Cocaine Woman," and go see them as soon as you have the chance. Like this weekend.

9pm, Laurelthirst Pub

Mickey Avalon Come watch him do the Jane Fonda at Dante's - a NW Portland bar that doubles as a hipster-girl strip club/burlesque venue which serves up pizza on the side. Often trashy, but generally catchy and amusing, songs of girls and drugs dominate Avalon's rap-rock lyrics. "I've got a lot of led in my zeppelin," he sings. 9pm both nights, Dante's.
