GO! A Snowboard Road Trip is a rowdy good time

The latest Patagonia-sponsored movie GO! A Snowboard Road Trip is gorgeous and jam-packed with big air and backcountry shred sequences shot in the American West; all set to a thoughtful, down-home, not-what-you'd-expect soundtrack (honky-tonk and hard-driving blues are a welcome relief from the endless glitch-hop and electronica so prevalent in modern snow films; seriously, if one more producer pairs Awolnation's "Sail" to anything, I'm going to shit a Red Bull).

Aside from the film's cool kid style—a beefed-up and heavily modified '93 Subaru Loyale serves as the official road trip vehicle for the four-man crew—it has local ties. The movie publicly launched last December when the band of buddies and their trusty Subaru rolled into Bend to compete in the Dirksen Derby, alongside Bend's Josh Dirksen, the pro snowboarder and Patagonia ambassador for which the event is named. After some friendly competition and fundraising—proceeds for the event are donated to local rider Tyler Eklund and his foundation, which aids those who suffer from paralysis—the road trippers took off for Jackson and beyond.

The film is screening in conjunction with this year's banked slalom event, the seventh annual Dirksen Derby (see "Our Picks" for more information). Get to the show early, meet the pro riders and enjoy a limited-release California Route Organic Lager, a crisp canned beer made for Patagonia by New Belgium Brewing.
