Nights like Saturday night in Bend always make me feel extremely fortunate to live here. Based on the quality and variety of live music alone, we live in a great music community. Saturday night I headed down to Velvet to check out Franchot Tone, the Bend-based singer-songwriter-producer who may best be known for being one half of Culver City Dub Collective.
Though they were confined to a small corner near the front door at Velvet, Tone, accompanied by Nate Berry and Craig Brown on drums and bass, played an excellent set of feel-good pop-reggae tunes that had listeners swaying to the beat. Tone definitely won more than a few new fans last night. Check out the video below for peek at last night's show.
