Bend's Second Annual Chicken Coop Tour

Bend's Second Annual Chicken Coop Tour.

Cock a doodle doo. Bend’s Second Annual Chicken Coop Tour is here.

The event is taking place on Saturday, May 7th from 10am to 4pm.

We wrote a feature story about this last year.

What could be so interesting about chicken coops? It’s really rather simple. Many people in the community are concerned with where their food comes from. Everyone wants to keep it local and it doesn’t get any more local then getting your eggs from your own backyard.

This will be Liz Lotochinski’s second year running the Chicken Coop Tour. She is looking to build on the success that the Tour had last year. The inaugural tour had over 1,600 visitors and the raised nearly $3,000 and hundreds of cans of food for local charities.

A tour booklet will serve as a ticket for one carload of people. The booklets are now available for $10 or 6 items of non-perishable/non-expired food at six retail outlets: High Desert Ranch and Home, Earth’s Art Tumalo Garden Market, Cowgirl Cash, Eastside Gardens, Riverwoods Country Store and Newport Avenue Market (purchase only). Booklets can also be ordered online at www.bendchickens.com.

This year’s tour will benefit Together For Children, Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding Center and Neighbor Impact Food Bank.
