The Horizon Broadcasting Group, which owns four Bend radio stations, just beefed-up its managerial team. And it did so with its competitors men.

Kenn Brown and Mike Cheney, both former Combined Communications employees, were recently hired by HBG—aquisitions that make owner Keith Shipman giddy.
“I've wanted to work with Kenn since I moved here 12 years ago,” Shipman said. "They have close to 70 years of broadcast experience between the two of them."
The Horizon Broadcasting Group is thriving and hired on Brown as a general sales manager while Cheney has taken over as local sales manager. Both men began working at HBG as talk show hosts back in February and the relationship grew from there.
"I feel very fortunate to have both these guys in our team," Shipman said.
Brown and Cheney were both relieved of their posts at Combined Communications in 2011, following the national economic downturn which began a few years prior. Horizon Broadcasting Group owns and operates five radio stations in Central Oregon: KQAK-FM (105.7 mhz, Rock & Roll’s Greatest Hits); KWPK-FM (THE PEAK 104.1 mhz, Hot Adult Contemporary); KLTW-FM (LITE 95.7 mhz, Adult Contemporary); KWLZ-FM (simulcasting KBNW-AM at 96.5 mhz) and KRCO-AM (690 khz and 96.9 mhz, Country’s Greatest Hits).
