There are many religions in the world and many ways to spread the word of god but one man has taken his view on faith to an entirely new level.
Johan Huibers, a rich Dutch businessman has built a full-size replica of Noah’s Ark because of a dream he had about his country flooding. That must’ve been one heck of dream. The ark was constructed to the exact cubit measurement inscribed in the book of Genesis. The project has been in construction since 2008 and opened to the public last summer. Huibers told the AFP, “We wanted to build something that can help explain the Bible in real terms.”
Here’s the Today interview about the ark even Noah himself would’ve been impressed by:
I’ve heard of some wild ideas to get the word of God out to the masses but this might be pushing it a bit too far. This guy used an absurd amount of money to build this ark just because of an intense dream. Sounds plausible right? I wish I could build things from my dreams but I would of been broke and living on the streets a long time ago.
This faithful artisan kept to the story with life-sized plastic animals, obviously in pairs, then added an aviary to give visitors an interactive feel. But the Dutchman didn’t stop there; he squeezed in a theater, conference areas and even a restaurant. Maybe it’s an In N’ Out, I know there pretty keen on Christianity with the hidden bible verses on their paper containers.
With all Double-Double cravings aside, I understand this creation was constructed to merely educate the story of Noah and his ark, but was it all necessary?
I’m sure the money spent on this ark could have gone to smaller, less expensive spiritual ideas but this is 2012, go big or go home.
If got any money left over this Christmas, perhaps a trip to Dordrecht, Netherlands would satisfy your own biblical dreams.
