Wandering the streets of downtown Bend and asking random people about their political views is a daunting task. Especially if you're a 17-year-old intern.
While some laughed at me and claimed "They found it hard to believe the Source was letting high schoolers do their work," others were intrigued and excited to be approached for a quick interview.
This week, I asked people what they thought about 75 top REPUBLICANS signing a document supporting gay marriage.
Jim Hauser (retired acupuncturist) made a point that really caught my attention: most young people are in favor of equal rights, so if the Republican Party wants to find success in future elections, they are going to have to come to terms with reality and embrace more progressive social ideals.
