Bend's Barrel-Aged Brew and Whiskey Festival kicks off tonight at 5 pm!
Little Woody is not your average beer festival. With twenty breweries presenting specialty barrel aged brews, and eight different whiskeys available for sample inside the Des Chutes Historical Museum, this is one of our favorite events of the year. Read descriptions of all of the beer and whiskeys here or pick up a Source and check out the Little Woody Guide in print, on stands now. For tips on how to best tackle the beer-fest, read James Williams' blog "How to Drink at a Beer Festival."
While we haven't had a chance to taste all the beers (believe us we'll be trying tonight) we did get to participate in a tasting to help select the smokey, peaty whiskeys. Our favorites are listed below.
Blanton’s Original Single Barrel Bourbon: a deep burning full bodied whiskey.
Willett Pot Still Reserve: Light pecan and toffee flavors.
Maker’s 46: An almost chocolaty sweet stronger incarnation of original Maker's Mark with a good burn and a long finish.
Templeton Rye: A peaty solid rye that will make you want a sazerac.
Thirsty yet? The Little Woody takes place right in the Source's backyard at the Des Chutes Historical Museum, 129 NW Idaho Ave. The festival continues Saturday from noon-10 pm. See you there!
