Tour De France - Stage 5

The Gorilla won his second stage in as many days, winning a rather uneventful long day of racing in northern France.

Greipel

Yesterday, Greipel's win had a little asterisk next to it due to a late crash taking out world champion Mark Canvandish. That was not the case today. Cavandish's team Sky even worked to give him a lead out but the big german was able to pull away in the find 50 meters to score his second win in as many days.

Tomorrow's stage should again produce a field sprint and we may well see a repeat of today's action. There is a little bump 10k from the finish which may give an opportunity for an escape artist, but my guess is we will see Cavandish make up for today's failure and get the win.

The real GC battle begins Saturday when the peloton heads into the mountains with the first summit finish on the mighty Planche des Belles. Expect some serious racing from everyone hoping for a shot at the final podium.
