4 Peaks Fest on Tour

The Blender raved a bit about music festivals earlier this week, but we didn't touch on the state of our own outdoor music and camping fest: the 4 Peaks Music Festival. Word just came through today that 4 Peaks is planning a mini Oregon tour with two of the festival's stalwarts, Poor Man's Whiskey and Blue Turtle Seduction.

The 4 Peaks Spring Fling Tour, as the three-day jaunt has been billed, begins at the Doug Fir Lounge on March 19, then heads south to Eugene's WOW Hall on the 20th, before wrapping up in Bend at the Old Stone Church on the 21st.

While mention of the tour will definitely conjure images of the two sunny days out in Tumalo in the minds of past attendees, the purpose of the Spring Fling doesn't cast as bright of a light on the future of the festival. Festival organizers are hoping the tour will raise awareness and support for 4 Peaks, which they say, like many of us, is "struggling in the current economy." The festival, which saw its attendance double between 2007 and 2008, is also still looking for a new site and is open to any suggestions from Central Oregonians who might have a space of land for the event.

The Blender is pumped to see these 4 Peaks bands come up our way and even more pumped at the prospect that the festival is bravely battling to survive in a time when festivals seem to be falling off left and right.
