Bend Roots Revival Kicks Off Tonight

You'll have to wait until tomorrow afternoon to get into the Century Center, but the Bend Roots Revival (about which we'll be writing/posting video/raving for the next few days on this blog) is kicking into motion tonight. Here's a link to our full festival preview, which is also a two-page spread in the print edition.

With a sort of SXSW approach, Bend Roots is taking over many local venues tonight. Here's tonight's lineups and venues:

4-6pm 10 Barrel Brewing – Blaze and Kelly – All ages

6-9pm Parrilla Grill – The Bend Roots Family Party and Songwriter-in-the-Round – All ages

7:30-9:30pm The Victorian Café – Night of the Dead featuring Rising Tide and Elisabeth Ames – All ages

8:30-11:30pm – Silver Moon Brewing Co. – Emma Hill and her Gentlemen Callers and John Shipe – 21+

9pm-Close The Summit Saloon and Stage – Ransom Band and Greg Botsford – 21+

If you're a Dead Head, and by living in Bend there's a 32 percent (probably) chance you are, you can get in some great Grateful Dead tunes from local tribute act Rising Tide, who play at the Victorian beginning at 7:30.

But the show of the night might be at the Silver Moon where Emma Hill and Her Gentlemen Callers will be joined by John Shipe. As you may have heard on NPR last week, Hill -- Portland-based musician originally from Alaska -- took advantage of Jet Blue’s unlimited travel tickets and has been flying all over hell and breakfast to play shows. Nevertheless, she’s foregoing the jet-setting lifestyle to play for the Roots crowd – a group who, if they haven’t already, are likely to fall deeply in love with her sound.
