McKay Cottage

Tucked away just north of downtown off OB Riley Rd., McKay Cottage Restaurant is a local's favorite, with a great selection of elevated but still homey breakfasts. Choose from the classic potatoes with bacon, ham, green onions and cheddar cheese or try a signature benedict with homemade hollandaise. Don't forget the buttery fruit-filled scones, made daily in-house.

The ambience of McKay Cottage can't be beat. The restaurant is nestled in the former home of some of Bend's original settlers, Clyde and Olive McKay. The house, built in 1916 on Mirror Pond was moved to its current location across from Sawyer Park in the late '80s. The patio offers tons of seating on the lawn in front of the cottage, perfect for outdoor dining on warm summer mornings before the heat fully hits.

Don't assume that a short drive out of Bend's downtown/westside breakfast scene will get you out of waiting for a weekend breakfast if you show up around 10. McKay's, a well-known favorite and has been the winner of the Source's Best Breakfast honors every year since 2010. (BB)
