Showing serious symptoms of a disease called enthusiasm, Black Pontiac is four fellas from Vancouver, Canada making waves like big fish in a small pond. Combining influences ranging all the way from the Hives to Jay Z to the iCarly theme song, the band has made a name for themselves in their hometown’s underground music scene and intends to deliver a plethora of styles for their upcoming debut album “From Bad to Worse (And Back Again)” brought together by ice cold riffs, a versatile rhythm section, and devastating displays of provocative lyrical prowess. When apart, the hooligans in question are lead singer Matt Purkiss, brothers Mack and Sam Riddell on guitar and drums respectively, and Avery John Shoesmith on bass. Together however, they are the matchstick to the gasoline (a fact witnesses to their insane live shows can confirm) and are unified in their goal of raising the bar and delivering the good times in a world gone crazy. Cynical, but optimistic, and inflammatory, but with a smile, because if you’re making guitar based music in 2021, it’s best to not take yourself too seriously.
