Central Oregon's Running Groups

Don't want to run alone? These people will let you run with their running group in Bend.

Certain types of people are lone wolves when it comes to running. They prefer to, huff and puff in private. Then there are those who are driven by the pitter-patter of feet running along next to them. For some, group running satisfies a need to chitchat mid-run, and for others being surrounded by other people reminds them of being in a race and pushes them into that faster minute/mile group. No matter what motivates you, there are plenty of groups to join in Bend, on basically every day of the week. Now, there's no excuse for you not to hit the ground running.


FootZone Women's Running Group

Mondays. 5:30pm. Distances and locations vary.Paces between 7 and 11-minute miles can be accommodated.E-mail jenny@Footzonebend.com formore info.

Performance Group with Max King

Tuesdays. 5:30pm. Locations vary.E-mail Mking@reboundspl.com for more info.

Pilot Butte Hill Repeats

Tuesdays. 5:30pm. Meet at Pilot Butte State Park lower parking lot. One to five repeats. Contact Dan Harshburger at 541-312-0139 or runsmts@bendbroadband.com.

FootZone Noon Run

Wednesdays. 12pm. Order a Taco Stand burrito when you leave and they'll have it ready when you return.

FootZone Learn to Run

Wednesdays. 5:30pm. Conversational-paced runs between 2-3 miles.Beginners and all paces welcome. Meets at FootZone.

Fleet Feet Group Run

Wednesdays. 6pm. Meet at Fleet Feet. Distances between 3-5 miles. Two groups - 10+ minute/mile & 8-9 minute/mile paces. Free to everyone.

CORK - Central Oregon Running Klub Run

Saturdays. 8am. Meets at Drake Park then drive to location the group chooses to run. Distances vary from 6-20 miles, options for everyone. centraloregonrunningklub.org

Redmond Running Group Run

Running for Kids

If you've got a youngster itching to start logging miles, you can get him or her started with the 2011 Little Foot Running Club, coached by ultra runner Jeff Browning (see the profile on him in this issue). Here's the info on the summer session:

Running program for ages first to fifth grade (exceptions for kindergarten with parent supervision). The program emphasizes fun, overall body fitness and coordination, while introducing kids to running activities over trails, obstacles, relays, and running games. Participation fee: Central Oregon Running Klub (CORK) membership ($10, includes t-shirt and water bottle). June 13-29, M-W, 4:30-5:30; July 11th-27, M-W, 4:30-5:30; Sept 12 - Oct 26.
