Every day, the Source publishes a mix of locally reported stories on our website, keeping you up to date on developments in news, food, music and the arts. We’re committed to covering this city where we live, this city that we love, and we hear regularly from readers who appreciate our ability to put breaking news in context.

The Source has been a free publication for its 22 years. It has been free as a print version and continued that way when we began to publish online, on social media and through our newsletters.

But, as most of our readers know, times are different for local journalism. Tech giants are hoovering up small businesses and small-business advertising—which has been the staple for locally owned media. Without these resources, journalism struggles to bring coverage of community news, arts and entertainment that social media cannot deliver.

Drama on Bond Street

We just received a call from the folks over at the Decoy. Apparently, the Decoy is changing it's name to Bond Street Grill, changing its menu and reopening on Monday under the same ownership.

All of this would be good and well, except that, as they and everyone else found out last week, Giusseppe's has closed and is reopening on Tuesday under the name Bond Street Bar and Grill.

The owners of the Decoy say they have had the rights to the name since September of this year. We're not sure who, if anyone, has the sole rights to use the name. But it should be interesting to see if there will, indeed, be two Bond Street-named restaurants opening next week across the street from each other. If so, make sure you're really specific with your friends about which Bond Street restaurant you want to meet them at. We can foresee some confusion surrounding this situation.
