Give Drag A Chance

I have read the lengthy letter of concern from Lisa Deanne Carlson, and I'm sorry, but as an entertainer and self-titled DRAG QUEEN, I don't see how my lifestyle and struggles, obstacles and challenges adversely affect hers, and I surely would never ask her or the Trans Community to cease doing what they do because it affected me or my journey, which it does not.

Her letter is well written and raises great awareness of her position, but to blame the Drag Queen Community and specifically the HDC Drag Show for ANYTHING... .is quite ridiculous. I feel as if she's looking for an argument where there is no argument to be had.

I'm an entertainer. I entertain, educate and embrace. That's what I do. The HDC Drag show is FUN! It raises needed funds for a worthy organization and to say you support the organization, but then call for a ban against a specific fundraiser, well... that's just plain confusing and to me, makes no sense.

I wish Ms. Carlson all the best and hold no ill will, but reject her notions regarding Drag Queens and the ban on our event.

I encourage everyone to attend and enjoy the 2010 HDC Drag Show at Boondocks on Saturday night, October 9 in downtown Bend. The show starts promptly at 8pm. We've entertained a capacity crowd each and every year and look forward to doing the same this week! You can find more information at www.humandignitycoallition.org
