Greg Brown's got love in Central Oregon. Why? Well, to start, there's the sweet irony of the fact that he shares his name with one of Deschutes County's most colorful former sheriffs - convicted embezzler Greg Brown. Oh yeah. That's just a local's bonus, though. Ask any Bendite who's caught a past Brown show, and they'll tell you about how the Iowan's grizzly and cuddly baritone fills the air with pure, glimmering folkie poetry - that's what really makes Greg Brown special. If you're still a doubter, check out some of Brown's many albums, most of which he's published on his own Red House label - or call up your old pal Garrison Keillor of A Prairie Home Companion fame. Even if he can't harmonize for beans, GK knows good folk music - and Brown's been all over that show's stage since way back.
7pm Saturday, May 17. Tower Theatre.
