Local businesses offer goods and services to federal workers affected by government shutdown

Amid the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, some local businesses and organizations are offering meals and services to furloughed federal government workers.

This is a living document that will be updated as we learn about local charitable efforts to help federal workers affected by the government shutdown.

High Desert Museum

Offering free admission to furloughed federal employees and immediate family members for duration of government shutdown. (Show form of government ID or badge at front desk)

Bellatazza

Stewart Fritchman, owner of Bellatazza, is offering to cook family-friendly meals upon request during the shutdown that can be picked up at the restaurant. He'll even buy furloughed workers a coffee! PM him on Facebook to request a meal.

Dump City Dumplings

If you're a furloughed federal worker, show your federal ID for a free dumpling a day.

Oregon Food Bank
Those seeking food assistance can find local meal sites and food pantries on Oregon Food Bank's website. Those who utilize SNAP and WIC benefits will not see a break in services, as funding is secured through February. School meal funding is also secure through March.

Financial Assistance through Community Credit Unions

Furloughed federal workers who bank with a credit union may be eligible to receive short-term financial assistance. Contact your credit union to learn about your options.

National School Lunch & Breakfast Benefits

Households affected by the partial closure of the federal government may apply for National School Lunch and School Breakfast meal benefits. The income guidelines for free and reduced price school meals are based on annual income.  Households may apply with the income received in the current month, projected for the month in which application is completed or for the month prior to application.

Free Food for Pets of Furloughed Federal Employees

The Humane Society of Central Oregon is offering free premium dog and cat food for federal employees on furlough (show federal ID).

Free Yoga at Namaspa

Namaspa will comp yoga classes for furloughed federal employees during the shutdown. Simply show your federal ID.

BendFilm Presents: "Rodents of Unusual Size"

If you are a federal employee affected by the shutdown, email abby@bendfilm.org for a free ticket. There will also be 20 held for federal employees who flash their ID at the door.
