Wondering if there's rain in today's forecast? Don't expect NOAA, the federal weather agency, to give you any tips. Their website is down (see below), and serves as yet another reminder of the enormous reach of the current government shutdown—the first in 17 years.
Nearly 800,000 government employees are now sitting at home or working without pay. National parks and monuments are closed and there's no certain end in sight.
