In a relatively brief amount of time, Laney has made significant accomplishments while finding her creative voice and a dedicated audience. The album was recorded at the Bomb Shelter with Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hurray for the Riff Raff, etc.) mixing creative styles like indie rock, dusty ‘60s R&B instrumentation, and subtle touches of modern folk. Songs from Stories Up High are being spotlighted by (among others): Brooklyn Vegan, Ear to the Ground, God is in the TV, Spotify's Fresh Finds Folk playlist, Magnet, and YouTube Music Brazil's Indie Lullabye playlists. Rolling Stone had her as an Artist to Watch on her last album. Stories Up High is her first album in six years.
