Sisters Folk Festival

An end of the summer treat, Sisters will hosts their annual Folk Fest with some downright rocking folk, bluegrass, country, blues and more. This six-stage festival takes place right in downtown Sisters. Past performers include Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter Dave Alvin, blues ledged John Hammond and folky Portland youngsters the Shook Twins. The 2012 line up hasn’t been released yet, but expect some killer acts and keep an eye on the Folk Fest webpage for the announcement. Sept 7-9 Sisters, OR sistersfolkfestival.org

4 Peaks Music Festival

Started by four friends who wanted to bring great music to Central Oregon, 4 Peaks is keeping tradition going strong. Artists perform at the beautiful Rockin A Ranch which has plenty of room for camping, so bring your tent! 4 Peaks is having a pre-funk weekend May 17-19 offering discounted festival passes, and collecting donations for the festival. Huckle, from San Fran, will be at the Astro Lounge on May 18 and price of admission is two cans of non-perishable food. Then, there's a locals night on May 19 at Silvermoon featuring Mostest, Truckstop Gravy, the Bond St. Allstars, The Pitchfork Revolution and Blackstrap. That’s a mini festival on its own! Show your support early and then check out the full line up in June. June 22-24. Rockin A Ranch 19449 Tumalo Reservoir Rd. 4peaksmusic.com

Bend Roots Revival

Bend Roots Revival is a three-day FREE event with the goal of showcasing some of our best homegrown musical acts. The event has grown from humble beginnings in the Parrilla Grill and Victorian Café parking lots to a full-blown weekend takeover of the Century Center in 2011. The lineup for this year isn’t out yet, but Mark Ransom, one of the founders of the event, tells us that this year Roots will make an effort to incorporate Bend’s Latino community’s culture and music. They’re also trying to promote the family friendly nature by offering more than the just your run-of-the-mill carbonated sodas and high fructose corn syrup beverages. Instead you'll find an organic fresh-squeezed lemonade stand! Might we suggest that juice go in some cocktails as well?
