Mr. Baldwin, Your failure to cite primary sources (National Review and Fox News are NOT primary sources)for your assertions renders your argument entirely impotent. Perhaps you too should heed the first two sentences of your letter...

"On a Friday morning, Guttermouth front man Mark Adkins talks for more than an hour over the telephone from his home in San Clemente, Calif. about, politics, honesty, distance running, guitar down strokes, Hot Topic stores, paddle boarding, real estate values, self-imposed racial segregation and several other topics related or un-related to punk rock." And this is all we get of an hour-long interview?

Right on, Jazzman. We fly an average of 10 to 12 times a year. With the availability of internet early check-in and flight alerts texted to my cell phone, we don't need to arrive at RDM until about 30 minutes before our flight and we still seem to have 20 minutes to kill while we are waiting to board. This letter makes no sense to me. Perhaps a cell phone parking lot would be nice. But curb-side pick-up has not posed a serious issue, either. Check flight status, arrive five minutes after scheduled landing (or 15 minutes if bags have been checked). It's not difficult.

Well, Jed. It must be nice to be in the segment of the population that has an adjusted annual income above $200,000. I'm sorry your marginal tax rate is going to rise from 33% to 39%, the same as it was under President Clinton. Incidently, the highest marginal tax rate during the Reagan administration was 50%. And we all know how much business suffered during those eight years. My small business doesn't generate nearly that kind of revenue, thus my taxes will stay the same as they are now (I may even get a bit of a break). So, I guess I can still afford to support local charities.

Offended, I am. Yes, O-ffended. Just because I'm hoping that Peyton Manning can put up a ton of points this week so my Fantasy quarterback, Aaron Rogers will have to keep throwing the ball, and I'm starting both Laveranues Coles and Jerricho Cotchery because my opponent is starting Brett Fav-re and they're playing in Oakland, and I'm hoping that New England can keep Denver from getting past the thirty-yardline so my kicker, Matt Prater can keep nailing those beautiful, beautiful field goals, does that make me a stat nerd? Okay, maybe it does. But, I'm a Dolphins fan. What other pleasure can I take out of football?

Spot on, HBM. On democracy, Winston Churchill once said, "it is absolutely the worst form of government, except for all the other forms of government." The bailout package shares a similarly dubious distinction. Does it suck? Of course it does. But it sucks less than any of the alternatives, including inaction.

Hmmm... C.T., what in the original Letter to the Editor or my comments constitutes a smear, lie, invention, or sign of fear? For the record, I'm not a leftist, elitist ass. I'm an intellectual, elitist ass. As such, I don't give one whit about you're guns or you're religion. Iâ ™m only worried about my own. And I certainly will not be brainwashed by Hannity, O'Reilly, Fox and Friends or Micheal Moore, Thom Hartman, and ex-SNL actors. If I were a huge Obama supporter, Iâ ™d be overjoyed at the selection of Sarah Palin. You can mark August 29th, 2008 on your calendar as the day that John McCain lost the election. Your irate, ranting response to our comments is the perfect indicator of whyâ "all anger, no substance. The rest of us are tired of the mindlessness of empty partisan rhetoric. I know it gets you guys in the neo-Republican base all fired up, but most Americans want real answers to real questions. On a day that the DOW lost 340 points and joblessness in America hit a 30 year high, from the Republican convention we heardâ ¦nothing. You are right about one thing. Sarah Palin IS a game changer. Sheâ ™ll guarantee a victory for Barack Obama. Right now youâ ™ve been sold on the lipstick on a pit bull. Eight weeks from now youâ ™ll see that it was really just lipstick on a pig.
