I'd like to address the people who are fond of putting out food for the in-town deer population. Please don't be surprised when you emerge some chilly morning and find one dead in your yard with a bloody trail leading into the street. Please note the slightly accusatory look in the lifeless eyes that are still blissed out from all the free chow. I have nearly run over several of these "pets" as they huddle around your equivalent to a soup kitchen. I recognize that humans have encroached on deer habitat, but I don't think that feeding them is an appropriate way to make it up to them.
