Mirror Pond Project Public Meeting
Mirror Pond, which is fast filling with silt, is in need of fix. What should happen to the river? Return it to a free-flowing waterway? Riparian restoration? Archaeology Film Fest
Old Beijing, hidden gold treasure, a mysterious Hobbit-like skeleton, mummies, an ancient people from the coast of Peru, excavations of an English Civil War site: These are just some of the cool topics of the 13 short films in this film fest that's currently traveling the West Coast. We're designating this Central Oregon's (unofficial, first-ever) Nordic Festival Weekend! On Saturday, it's the Great Nordeen, an 18K and 30K race ($50, starts at 7:30 a.m., info at mbsef.org). Saturday night is the Luminaria, a candlelit night ski at Virginia Meissner Sno Park (free, starts at 6 p.m., info at meissnernordic.org). And on Sunday it's Tour for the Heart, a 5K fundraiser for the Oregon chapter of the American Heart Association ($25, starts at 11 a.m., info at tourfortheheart.org).
Chili Cook-Off sunday 10
