Pedal to the Metal

Yippee! Gas prices are down! Now we can all dust off our gas-guzzling pick-ups and SUVs and get 'em back on the road.

We sure don't need to use any of those sissy gas-conserving driving habits either. Floor that accelerator, ram through those gears! We're all in a big d__n hurry too, so let's go back to all those jackrabbit starts and stops. Let's speed aggressively.

Who cares about global warming or carbon footprints? Who cares about the inevitable total depletion of the planet's oil supply? We're Americans, and entitled to hog and waste as much of the planet's resources as our immediate gratification dictates. We're entitled to waste gas as long as we can afford the bill. We don't need to learn anything from the latest gas crisis. Back to our selfish "business as usual" habits. After all, we Americans have a long history of selfish, greedy, and wasteful behavior to live up to.

Good work Central Oregon!

Sue Jamison, Bend.
