The upper Old Mill district will soon get a new "American tapas lounge" called Fireside Red. (803 SW Industrial Way, Suite 202, 306-3121, www.firesidered.com). The menu will be globally inspired dishes served as single servings or as larger "family style" plates. Crispy-skinned duck breast, Tangier spiced pork tenderloin, paella and pork Oso Bucco are just a few of the many dishes that highlight the menu. The restaurant will be opening the first week in March. Also new in Bend is the second arm of the Typhoon! Invasion, Bo Restobar, (550 NW Franklin Ave, Suite 118, www.borestobar.com) The OTHER restaurant from Chef Bo Kline, is open, sharing the Franklin Crossing building with it's sister restaurant Typhoon!. This is the second Bo Restobar in the Kline's line of restaurants, the first being in Portland, which features the chef's recipes from other Asian countries made with her own artistic flair. The menu capitalizes on the cuisines of Korea, China, Japan and Vietnam with dishes ranging in size including lettuce salad wraps, sun-dried beef and new world sashimi. The atmosphere is a bit more "casual and fun" than Typhoon! It's also a bonafide bar that serves drinks into the wee hours on weekends, adding another upscale option to Bend's nightclub/bar scene. An old Bend favorite and home to the "18oz Burger", Pilot Butte Drive-In (917 N.E. Greenwood Ave., 382-2972, www.pilotbutte.com) has increased their hours to 6:30AM - 6PM everyday. Now there's no reason to eat anywhere else.

Two new restaurants recently opened their doors in Redmond, both downtown on Sixth Street. Open just more than a week, The Brickhouse Steak and Raw Bar (412 SW Sixth St., 526-1782, www.brickhouseredmond.com) is serving up steak, seafood and oysters on the half shell to the residents of Redmond and beyond. Happy Hour is from 4-6pm and includes $1 oysters, lots of $3 appetizers and drink specials. The Spot Café is a breakfast and lunch restaurant that opened this month with a menu choked full of locally grown products. The owner/chef will be serving traditional American breakfasts and lunches with everything made in house, seven day a week from 7am-3pm. 447 SW 6th St., Redmond 526-1826
