Summer is here. Kind of. Sort of. Well, at least the summer beer is here and one of those brews made it onto the Microcosmos radar last week when a growler of Three Creeks Brewing Co.'s newly released Ridge Trail Ale landed in our office. The brewery has been releasing the English style bitter beer for the past two years to honor the Peterson Ridge Trail system that many a biker access from directly behind the brewery out in Sisters. The beer is crisp and light enough (5.4 percent ABV) to make it a reliable summer brew for the approaching (hopefully) warm months. But that isn't to say this beer doesn't have body, because it certainly does, thanks to a combination of nugget, Mt. Hood and U.S. Golding hops that give it an excellent bite. Some may have already sampled this beer out at the Sisters Stampede mountain bike race, but you can also get it at the Three Creeks pub all summer and also in Bend at Pizza Mondo. Drink up and let's hope that the summer beer gives way to summer weather.
