Show Preview: Rude boys and girls rejoice, The Beat hits Bend Dec. 1

SKA — The English Beat is a band with an energetic mix of musical styles and a sound like no other. The band's unique sound has allowed it to endure for nearly three decades and appeal to fans, young and old, all over the world. You just can’t stop The English Beat!

The English Beat—or just “The Beat” as they’re known in the UK—just wrapped up a two-month tour in the UK and Ireland mid-September and they already kicked-off their U.S. tour in sunny California this past weekend.

They’re stopping in Bend on Dec. 1 as a part of their three-month U.S. tour, where they’ll make stops coast to coast from Los Angeles to New York City.

If their name sounds familiar, but you can’t quite put your finger on who they are—The English Beat are best known for their role in the British 2 Tone Ska movement, with their first album “Just Can't Stop It” essentially defining the genre. The Specials, The Selecter and Madness were all huge at the cusp of 1980, following the great UK ska revival of the late 1970’s.

Dave Wakeling is the only original band member remaining and he’s continued to skank across the globe with backing ska band under The English Beat name.

Side note: It was a great time for music videos, you guys. Watch, listen and enjoy. You’re welcome.
